I fully support Norbu Sherpa on his possition about usage of Tibetan alphabet for the development and preservation of Sherpa language. My suggestion is that at the minimum all Sherpa children should be taught to read and write fundamental 30 consonants to begin with. That will be the start day of Shepa language prservation. |

Hi, regarding the heading "Traditional Sherpa Dance from Everest region Namche Khumbu", I want to clearify that Namche simply doesn't mean Khumbu but it is just a village in Khumbu like Thame, Khumjung, Khunde, Phortse, Pangboche and so on. Therefore, if you could make change to the above title deleting "Namche" it sounds and looks much better. The collection of songs are not only from Namche but from other villages too. |

Extremely it is very hard to comment on this subject matter because it is our efforts to preserve our language and culture from all side which was lacking behind due to migration and modern education of capital. our culture and language is paramount which belonging to us before then our birth and it is our identity around the world. I hearty like to thank the organizer of Himalayan cultural group and its member for applying a best effort to spread and preserve our culture and language through out the nation and worldwide. After many years HSCC is trying to do some thing best job by organizing such kind of Cultural event in the capital and it is matter of pride for us.
No matter how long we try to do best but we may leave tiny mistake due to various reason during because no one is 100% perfect in the world.
My main concern for commenting on the program organized by the HSCC on 17 Ashwin 2066 B.S Saturday on 3.00 P.M. at capital, whose main focus was cultural event for the promotion of sherpa culture and language. So I was also presented there to view the event. Organizer had tried their best to give full satisfaction to the audience and to divert their mind toward the stage, the movement was quite caring a charms in all face because after long gap HSCC is presenting a Cultural event in the capital. The hall was quite full and environment was worm. A kind of enthusiastic has been developed to see the new face on the stage and the program was Wel Come by Sherpa Song playing traditional instrument by the ladies. The moment was gorgeous my heart was full of pride. The program was running fine till Pasang T. Sherpa appear on the stage.
Pasang T. Sherpa is one of the established actor of the nation in sherpa society, audience was very much excited to see his talent on the stage as he is comedy actor so we all have expected that he is going to bring some thing new to make audience laugh this time but our expectation went on vain because the joke he presented on the stage was very old and the style of presentation not like an established actor. He just repeated the joke only which was decade in this history of joke.
It would be better if he has presented something new like social or political or cultural satire through comedy but he presented only joke which doesn't seems differ. Being a well established actor he should have kept in his mind that what he presents in front of audience, it should have some weight or it should convey some message to the sherpa society.
Actually he presents rubbish and prone joke only instead of presenting funny act, which is the matter of shame to him because this is not the place to present such a joke. All were gather there to see cultural event with their family, where mother, sister, brother and grand mother, grand father and small kids were there before the stage. So may someone feel it is a simple matter but I feel this kind of stuff is not a simple matter because it create an uneasiness among the family or relative to whom we respect and I think may Pasang T. Sherpa's Family were also there to scrutinize the event so what kind of amusement did they had feel while presenting such kind of stuff, sexy or funny?. So before we present any kind of stuff in front of audience we should be aware that what kind of message our stuff relay to the society and to our new generation. Just presenting such prone joke and making audience laugh he might have gain fame but it doesn’t signified the quality of established actor in sherpa society.
Next thing, This time management had made some mistake while printing Ticket because I have found more then one mistake in the ticket. ENTRANCE is the correct not ENTRENCE, i found many mistak so who's mistake is this. Do we blame to printing press or management. I obviously blame to management, who didn't gave a clear look before printing. This is a blunder mistake because there were not more then 40 words in the ticket so which is very easy to edit before printing. This surely prove that we sherpa people are very back in education and don't know how to write. Even other people dominate us being illiterate so this is time to prove that we sherpa people are not back in education so I request to take deep attention in this matter too in coming future.
At last my main intension is not to heart Actor Pasang T. Sherpa and management but it is my suggestion and my dissatisfaction that we should be aware in coming future before presenting such kind of stuff, where our sister, mother, brother summoned to scrutinize the such big event. Because small thing and small mistake is enough to spoil the fame.

I am sherpa. I am proud to be a sherpa cast. but i sometime regret for myself. That is why i knew the history of sherpa and i know the present world of sherpa cast. I feel very sarrow all we biddist are truely not preserving our religion on the basis of buddha psylosophy. All the letter (LIPI) are in only tebetain language which very difficult to understan to general people. many sherpas are forgeting their language even me. We are truely do not believe buddha because we go to hindu tampel and we pry for greddy shelf we secrifice animal. we celebrate our marriage and death ceromony according to buddha but still we go to hindu tampel. We have no special trai to follow the buddha psylosophy. Many sherpa man and women are really proudy beeng wealthy and they selfish giant. we have sefficient unity. we hate poor sherpa and we only proud we are wealthy. but for pure buddist wealth no thing and proudiness is sin. I saggust to all sherpa brother let us make strong unity and follow the buddha psylosophy.

The news in Kantipur is really upseting and we understand it is a conspiracy of Fanatic Hindu people. The intellect Hindu group would not act in such a foolish way. Budhhism , is spreading like fire in the globe becuase of its non violence and scientific approach.
Its a pity that Buddhism is trying to be suppressed in Nepal. How can someone control the light of the sun. They can utilize it but cannot supress it.
We sherpas and all the Himalayan communities are hurt by the Government's foolhardy act. Yes, we would like to challenge the Government to prove that our Monastaries have weapons and are engeged in Anti China activities.
Let every body be aware that we follow Dalai Lama as a spiritual leader not a Poitical leader. Moreover, he is wise and his words of wisdom are sought after globally.
The Government should apologize for spreading such nonsense news and discriminating Himalayan people on grounds of religion and Ethnicity.
I urge all the intellectual groups such as :pressure groups, civic society, human rights activist, socialist, political leaders, thinkers and diplomatic missions to support our cause. Finally, all the Sherpa people and Himalayan communities should raise voice together and retaliate. Our silence is misunderstood. All the concerned who are residing around the globe spread this message globally so that the Nepali national publication and the Government will feel ashamed of their act. We expect them to use their heads before taking any step rather than trying to infuse hatred and anger amongst Nepalese citizens. Because of such acts our desire to have our separate Sherpa state/Himalayan state grows stronger day by day.
We Sherpas have achieved success in whatever field we have entered , I am confident once we start engaging ourselves in politice we shall be successful soon. Lets have our leadership qualities transformed into Politiocal leadership . Please mind that Sherpas are gifted leaders NOT trained leaders.

If we want to protect our identity and preserve our language, we must use mother language wherever possible.
Mother language should be taught in the schools. Sherpa language must be used in schools, offices, notice and banners in Sherpa region. I support Thupten Sherpa's view in this regard.
I saw some photos related to Sherpa Autonomous Region Declaration in Salle, Solukhumbu on 14th Dec. But I was surprised to see the banners in Khas language. Except some Tibetan/Sherpa scripts on the signboard, most of the information was in Khas language only. I am not against Khas language but I suggest you to use your own language in Sherpa region. Khas language will be used in Khasan region.
In common, we can use English in this globalized era.
Sherpa songs and dresses are very beautiful, be proud of your own language and culture.
World people know about Nepal because of Himalayan adventure of the Sherpas and arts/culture of Newars.

I am a 3rd generation sherpa living here in Bhutan as the bonafide citizen of this country but it really touches my heart when I see many people of my kind interacting on this website.Another thing it touches me..when you guys are discussing about the preservation of Sherpa culture and language.I think we must preserve and pass onto the coming generation our own Language n Culture atleast which make us distinct set of Himalayan People among the Great Himalayan Races like Tibetan,Mongolian,Monpas.mustangpas,Drukpas,Sikkimese,Tawangpas and Ladakpas.
We must have our Sherpa Language written and preserve in Tibetan Script..CHOKEY..as is Globally known.
